Sandown Race 4-7 STREET CLASSIC Declared a Non starter

Anticipated the start by jumping into the gates and springing his gate opened before the start. Came out 5 lenghts behind them, and raced like he had concussion, made some ground on the turn but never travelled like he was going to win. (Stewards report) Prior to the declaration of correct weight Stewards viewed the patrol film to ascertain whether or not Street Classic had been denied a fair start. After taking evidence from D Yendall rider of Street Classic and starters Mr D McClure and Mr P Doherty, it was established that Street Classic lunged forward which resulted in the gates of Street Classic opening prior to the start being effected. In accordance with the provisions of AR134A the Stewards were satisfied that in these particular circumstances Street Classic had been denied a fair start which materially prejudiced its chances of running in the first three placings given the ground it lost at the start and its normal racing pattern. Subsequently the Stewards ordered the following deductions to betting. All monies bet for a win and/place and concession betting on Street Classic to be refunded. All successful bets on the horses prior to the time of withdrawal of Street Classic were subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the ticket: Win bets 17 cents, place bets 15 cents, winning concession bets 17 cents and double bets 17 cents. All monies bet after the Stewards declaration of withdrawal to be paid at face value of the ticket.

Sandown Race 7-4 PIT LANE Unplaced

Got well back from the start and never travelled well, under pressure on the turn and didn't finish off.

Eagle Farm Race 5-4 SAVE A BUCK unplaced

Flemington Race 2-3 CAYMANS unplaced
Jumped OK went back worse than midfield, looked to be hanging out from the 600 meters and made ground on the turn.
Raced all over the place in the straight and didn't finish of, probably wasn't suited by the slow tempo.(Stewards Report)

Caymans raced wide without cover.Caymans hung out rounding the home turn.Caymans then wanted to lay in in the straight hampering Nato and to a lesser extent Grand Couture approaching the 300m.Inside the 200m Caymans shifted in again when struck with the whip.

Flemington Race 9-8 HOT DANISH 1st $3.60- $1.60
Jumped a little slow, however mustered speed quickly to be just behind the pace.
Took the lead at the 300m and fort strong for a convincing win.

Doomben Race 3-6 SLEEK REPEAT unplaced
Jumped well and lead, taken on in front when the jock tried to slow the speed, had a little kick on the turn, however stopped bad in the straight.

Doomben Race 7-6 HEART OF THE CITI 3rd $1.80
Eased out of the early speed battle and looked like he was going to get in, however got stuck 3 wide. Then for no good reason made her run from the 700m and joined the leaders at the 300m and weakened. I hope they put Brad Pengally back on him next start.

Rosehill Race 5-5 EQUABLE Unplaced
Got back (WHY) in a slow run race made ground from the 600 meters, although wide sprinted well
but gave them to much start.
(Stewards Report)
An inquiry was opened into the riding of 7th placegetter,
Equable, when evidence was taken from the rider and from the trainer. The inquiry was adjourned
to a date to be fixed.

Rosehill Race 7-2 RIO OSA unplaced
Went forward from awkward ally and got trapped wide, with no cover. Pushed widest on the turn and looked to be on the wrong leg
did nothing in the straight.(Stewards Report)When questioned regarding the
performance of Rio Osa, J Parr stated he elected to go forward from his wide barrier, as he had
formed the view he would be able to obtain a position close to the rail. He added that when this did
not eventuate he was consequently trapped three wide until the 600m, where Rio Osa became
unbalanced after receiving a bump from Cruisy Lady, which shifted out around the heels of
Spectacular Bird. J Parr further stated that when Cajou also shifted out he was caught five wide
around the turn, which further unbalanced Rio Osa when it made contact with his hindquarter, but
nevertheless Rio Osa was somewhat disappointing in that it gave ground quickly in the straight.

Welcome to my newsletter......1st November

Today's racing is like the grand final day at the football, when all the best battle it out to see who takes home the big prize. My Cox Plate tip last week Zipping came 2nd, and it was an adventurous ride by Danny. This week’s tip in the big one is LARRY'S NEVER LATE, who made good ground late and looks like a real dower stayer. He would defiantly be worth putting him in your quinellas. Warwick Farm 21/10/08

Briolette – Lightly raced improving filly from the Bart Cummings stable. Settled last over the 1400m at start number three before making ground along the fence approaching the turn. Worked home gamely but raced a bit greenly under pressure (as she did at her previous start) and looks open to plenty of improvement. Extra distance may also assist so keep an eye on her when next presented. Longterm blackbooker.

Canterbury 22/10/08

I’m Ruthless – Well bred three-year-old colt from the Joe Pride camp. Was having only his second start when tackled 1100m at Canterbury and showed good natural pace to settle outside the leader. Was outpaced on turning and looked likely to fade but knuckled down strongly and would have reeled in the leader but for ducking in at the 100m mark. Still learning the trade and is open to improvement. Can pay his way for punters in the near future.

Rosehill 25/10/08

Running To Win – Turned in a real eye-catcher when resuming over 1400m. Restrained to last by Hugh Bowman from a wide draw, the leaders didn’t go hard enough to set the race up for backmarkers. Hugh opted to save ground coming into the straight and wound-up gamely through the pack. Was a bit tight on the wire and should have finished closer. Will definitely take benefit from the run and can only improve next time and the time after that. Check below for the sectional times. A definite blackbooker.

Melbourne by Brad Waters
Moonee Valley 25/10/08

BAWAARDI – This son of Redoute’s Choice took 400 metres to work out what racing was all about when making his debut last Saturday. Bawaardi was back in the ruck on the home turn before producing a strong finishing burst in the straight to be beaten three-quarters of a length. Bawaardi is a half-brother to the two-year-old stakes winner Freestyle and will prove to be a very handy juvenile on a bigger track.

C’EST LA GUERRE – As has been widely reported in the aftermath, the Cox Plate was a one-act affair with Maldivian getting away with murder from the 1600 metres to the 600 metres. C'est La Guerre's sectional time was unavailable but he was held up a couple of times in the run to the line but was the best of the backmarkers. His last two runs have been excellent and the New Zealand Derby winner is coming along beautifully for the Melbourne Cup.

PERMISSION TO LAND – Put simply, this mare was as stiff as a board in the Inglis Mile. After settling in a nice slot midfield, pilot error saw Permission to Land back near last on the home turn before running on well until stopped in her tracks with 75 metres to go. The John O’Shea mare picked herself up and launched herself at the finish line to just miss. There is no doubt she should have won the race and it will be interesting to see if trainer John O’Shea joins the list of those that have barred Craig Williams from riding their horses.

Geelong Race 2-6 VALIDATOR Unplaced

Got back near last as expected, in a moderate pace and made ground on the turn 3 wide.

However never accelerated under Michael's Riding. I ignored one of my selection rules, because his

last run was such an eye catcher. This horse has only won, one race from 16 starts he's a non winner,

not saying he won't win more races, just not with my money on him.

Geelong Race 10-4 TOUR GUIDE 1st $3.00-$1.60

Jumped just OK, ridden along to get outside the leader, and was under alot of pressure coming around the turn

Damien showed why he's such a great rider by lifting this fellow off the canvas to win by a nose.
Doomben Race 6-3
FIREDRAKE 1st $3.00-$1.70

Ridden hard to lead and he relaxed well when getting to the front, Natasha judged the pace well in front and he

put 3 lenghts on them at the 400m and won convincingly.

25-10-08

Mooney Valley Race 5-4 Lucky Secret 1st $4.20-$1.80

Jumped well and was challanged for the lead , sat just inside the leader untill the turn. Acellerated

on straightening and it was all over in a blink of an eye.Great Horse, Great price.

Mooney Valley Race 10-8 PRINCESS MARIZZA 2nd $1.80

Got back near last as expected, in a fast pace and made ground on the turn 3 & 4 wide.

Came with a strong run and just missed, it was probably asking to much for Michael to ride four winners.

Rosehill Race 4-6 BABY CASINO unplaced

Fired up out of the gates and couldn't lead sat 2nd over-racing and using up energy,

never looked the winner in the straight. he a better horse than that forgive one bad run.

(Stewards Report) When questioned, J Cassidy, rider of Baby Casino stated

his mount overraced badly throughout and was inclined to hang out on the turns. He added that as

a result, when crossed early by Armstrong Jones, he came to the outside of the heels of that

runner as he felt Baby Casino was travelling too strongly to take a trail behind that runner.

Doomben Race 5-7 MOPPETT unplaced

Great ride 5th the fence, and eased off behind the leaders, and never got to the line like his last run.

Doomben Race 9-1 DEACON 3rd $1.60

Got back in a fast pace, Adrian tryed to save ground and get up the inside on the turn. However

ran into plenty of dead ends, when he finally got clear flew to the line late, too late.

Warwick Farm 15/10/08
Cruisy Lady – Greg Bennett-trained five-year-old mare and had to contend with a poor gate when coming to town third-up over 1300m. Tye Angland had no luck in the early stages and was posted midfield out three and four wide. Began to urge Cruisy Lady forward from the 700m and really got stuck into her rounding the turn. She responded and knuckled down after them inside the final 250m. Rounded them up and kept going for a very strong win. Only had 14 starts and the best is still ahead of her.

Randwick 18/10/08
Rio Osa – Eye-catching runner-up behind Mary’s Grace in the Ratings 86 (1200m) event. Settled back in the field one off the fence and with a moderate tempo up front it was going to be tough for the backmarkers. Outpaced on straightening it appeared a sound fourth of fifth was in store but Josh Parr weaved a path clear between the 250-100m and once spotted daylight really attacked the line to grab second place. Would have won in a few more bounds and will be spot on third-up. Sectionals were good (see below). Handy mare.

Fighting Fund – Resumed over 1100m but from a wide gate drifted back last on the rails. Kathy O’Hara had little option but to ride for luck and persevered with inside runs from the turn. Was slightly held-up on occasion but continued to build momentum and really flew inside the final 125m. Finished right on the placegetters heels and will be hard to beat second-up over slightly further.
Melbourne by Brad Waters

Caulfield 15/10/08
Geyser Peak
– This son of Anabaa was second-up going in last Wednesday’s event and did plenty of work early to find a position from his outside draw before settling outside the leader facing the breeze. Geyser Peak fought on very strongly to the line but was no match for the fitter stablemate , Vigor, who had a perfect run sitting behind the leaders while Geyser Peak did all the work up front. He’s won three races from six starts so he obviously has a stack of ability and can pinch a race over the Flemington carnival.

Caulfield 18/10/08
Allez Wonder / Think Money
– Bart Cummings trains both of these fillies and while turning in contrasting runs over 2000 metres at Caufield showed that they both relish extra distance. Allez Wonder was caught three-wide facing the breeze for the entire trip and stuck on very well over the concluding stages to narrowly miss third place after a torrid run. Think Money was back near the rear in a very slowly-run affair, exhibited a decent turn of foot to get home strongly off such a slow pace. These two turned in super Oaks trials and, while they are no hope of beating Samantha Miss in the VRC Oaks, they may well represent excellent each-way value and add some value to any exotic dividend in the Oaks. Remember , Bart sent Marjorie around last year and nabbed third at 100-1 so there is a precedent.

Aichi – This Darley-owned three-year-old bumped into a red-hot Sunburnt Land in the GII Thai International Airways Sprint where he was given no hope at the weights. The three-year-old was forced to carry 2kg over weight-for-age and produced a super performance to go under by a half-length. Back to his own age and the set weight conditions, he could be the one to upset Northern Meteor and Fist of Fury in the Coolmore Stakes . The two Sydney boom horses have never raced down the straight but Aichi has already won there, beating the smart Time Thief in the GII Danehill Stakes (1200m) in September.

THE RIDERS IN THE STAND

There’s some that ride the robbo style, and bump at every stride;
While others sit along way back, to get a longer ride.
There’s some that ride like sailors do, with legs, and arms, and teeth;
And some that ride on horse’s neck, and some ride underneath.

But all the finest horsemen out-the men to beat the band-
You’ll find amongst the crowd that ride their races in the stand.
They’ll say, “He had the race in hand, and lost it in the straight”.
They’ll show how Godby came too soon, and barden came to late.
They’ll say Chevalley lost his nerve, and Regan lost his head;
They’ll tell how one was “livened up” and something else was “dead”-

In fact, the race was never run on sea, or sky, or land,
But what you’d get it better done by riders in the stand.

The rule holds good in everything in life’s uncertain fight ;
You’ll find the winner can’t go wrong, the loser can’t go right.
You ride a slashing race, and lose-by one and all you’re banned!
Ride like a bag of flour, and win-they’ll cheer you in the stand.

Ballarat Race 6-3 O'REILLY'S CLOCK unplaced

Sydney by Paul Joice

Canterbury 8/10/08

Friday Nights – Lightly raced Anabaa four-year-old from the Tim Martin stable and looks ready to produce the goods now after a very soft win in midweek company over the 1550m. Handled by Corey Brown, Friday Nights landed straight on the bunny and despite having a runner camped right outside him travelled sweetly and within himself throughout. Brown clicked him up rounding the turn and this strong gelding responded – kicking away for a smart win. A mile won’t pose any problems and looks the type that could get up to 2000m and really dominate at that level.

Northern Meteor – Had his first run for the Waterhouse camp and had the blinkers on first time when treating midweek rivals with absolute disdain over the 1250m. Sat outside the lead before accelerating 400m out and leaving rivals stranded. Put a gap in them very quickly before going right on with the job. You don’t see many more dominant wins at midweek meetings and the fact Gai is throwing him straight into the Brian Crowley Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on Saturday suggests he’s every bit as good as he looks.

Rosehill 11/10/08

Raise – Best run of the week and an absolute must for your blackbook. Restrained early when resuming over 1400m, she raced a little keenly before settling well back one off the fence. The pace was solid up front with Jeff Lloyd deciding to rev her up approaching the turn. Improved very quickly and when another runner shifted ground in front of her Lloyd was forced to the extreme outside – losing at least one length. Once balanced she motored into fourth position and clearly hit the line better than any other runner. Not a renowned first-up performer and better over further, it was a cracking return. Follow.

Rendzina – Bit of a smokey for the value punters in weeks to come. With only one win from 20 starts she is hardly the most bankable mare in the business but her two runs this time in have been good and she could have almost got away with a handy mares event on Saturday if luck had gone her way. Settling well back in the run the speed had been slow up front making it tough for the backmarkers and when Rendzina became held-up and forced back to the inside at the top of the straight her chances looked gone. Peter Wells got her going but at the 150m had to steady off heels and lost her momentum. Picked-up again very late and hit the line with plenty up the sleeve. Worth something next start.

Melbourne by Brad Waters

Caulfield 10/10/08

Zizz
– This Matthew Ellerton-trained colt probably had every chance in the opening event at Caulfield last Saturday but his effort was still terrific. The Hurricane Sky three-year-old had only had one career run before that run for a win in a Seymour maiden. At Caulfield, Zizz ran into a very smart horse in Eclair Fantastic but he won’t be meeting him at his next start and the punters will get value about him over the Flemington carnival.

C’Est la Guerre
– In the Yalumba Stakes, this bloke produced his best effort since joining the Lloyd Williams camp after his NZ Derby success. After settling back in a moderately-run race, the son of Shinko King got the line well enough to suggest that he is coming along beautifully for his next assignment which will probably be in the Moonee Valley Cup on Cox Plate day. The Lloyd Williams operation have dominated the MV Cup in recent years, winning it with Zipping and Gallic in the last two runnings of the event.

Pillar of Hercules
– He drew wide in the GI Toorak Handicap and did all of the donkey work out three wide without cover throughout the race with the eventual winner, Alamosa, using him for cover before peeling off his back at the 600 metres. The Peter Moody-trained stallion was entitled to drop out and run down the track in the Toorak Handicap but stuck on in a gutsy fashion to tough it out for third. All four of his runs since a spell have been very good and he’s ready to win if he gets the right draw in the Emirates Stakes.

Professional Punter: Free Winning Horse Racing Tipster Betting Systems & Tips

Professional Punter: Free Winning Horse Racing Tipster Betting Systems & Tips: "The New Jockey Horse Racing Betting System
This is a very simple betting system method of finding horses at big odds that could be about to improve or could be set for the race.
The best jockeys usually do not ride horses just to get the riders' fees. They are very wealthy and do not need to do that to earn a living.

So with that in mind, here are the rules:

1. The horse has a significant jockey change from its last start with one of the top six jockeys from the state or (interstate) taking the ride.

2. If more than one qualifier in a race, back the horse at longest odds.

3. If you have a good formguide take particular note of any horse which had bad luck at its last start.
4. The strongest bets will have had bad luck at their last start and because connections were not satisfied with the ride they replace the jockey with one of the best jockeys available. That means a suitable race has been found for the horse, the horse has been set to win and will be trying to win.

You can bring in plenty of your own additional rules. I feel sure you will have plenty of fun with this betting method.
Good luck."

Bendigo Race 5-12 VALIDATOR unplaced

Got back to 2nd last outside eventual winner, as expected. Was clipping heels and the jock kept looking for inside runs, ran into 2 dead ends in the straight and was interfered with by the winner just as he started to get going. Certainty beaten

(Steward Report)Prior to correct weight D. Moor rider of Validator 6th placegetter viewed the official video in the straight before deciding not to proceed with an objection.D. Moor rider of Validator pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, the careless riding being that he permitted his mount to shift out near the 300 metres to obtain clear running resulting in Unrestrained being taken out onto Sailor Salute which in turn was taken out onto Kaisership consequently Sailor Salute had to be checked. Stewards conceded there was a minor shift from Instructor which was racing to the outside of Kaisership. In arriving at their decision Stewards took into account his guilty plea and the fact that the suspension was during the spring carnival. D. Moor was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence midnight 3rd October 2008 and to expire midnight 10th October, 2008. a total of 8 meetings 2 city and 8 country

Eagle Farm 7-4 ROMANTIC JOURNEY 1st $2.60-$1.40

Jumped like a rocket and went straight to the front, he was always going to get an easy sectionals upfront with the scratching that came out. Straightened up 2 lengths in front and stayed there. He's a good horse when he's firring.

04-10-08

Flemington Race 3-8 TINDAL 1st $3.60-$1.40

Ridden upside down, slow away and ridden along to get handy, went a bit quick in front and was left alone, kicked strong and found plenty. He's a Caufield Guinness Chance.

Brisbane Race 2-2 LIFEBOAT 1st $2.80-$1.60

Great ride by the apprentice to get across and be running 3rd just behind the leaders, going well on the turn and eased out 3 wide and shot away

with little ridding to win effetely.

Brisbane Race 8-4 FANGLES 1st $6.30-$2.40

Given a gun run by Chris as usual, 3rd the fence, in a moderate tempo. Eased around the leaders heals on the turn, balanced up and let down to win nicely.

Slow away and ridden hard to lead, slowed pace mid race, and in my opinion waited to long before she made her run. Fort gamely one stride before the post was beaten, however got the bob in at the right time.

Randwick Race 10-15 ANNA BEK unplaced

Jumped OK and race in a good position 5th the fence, never really improved held position until the 200m and then weakened out of it.(Stewards Report) When questioned, D Nikolic, rider of Anna Bek stated that his mount overraced when ridden a little closer and, as a result, did not finish off its race. Free tip and Indsie Mail

There are plenty of races on today's meetings, with both Sydney and Melbourne hosting ten events each. One of the rules I follow strictly as a punter is to be very selective in what race I invest in. After all you want the race to be run to suit your selection, speed maps are important as well as distances and the number of runners.

I got some inside mail from the Gold Coast today and the race map shows he will lead easy and make it a one-horse affair. Just like last Wednesday selection Romantic Journey. If your looking for today's free tip see below....

Today's Free Tip is Flemington Race 3-7 Tindal

Video Reviews By Paul Joice

Sydney by Paul Joice Kensington 23/9/08

Detroit Song – Broke through at fourth race start when up to 1800m and looks a real stayer in the making. Trained at Goulburn by Rick Worthington, this strong looking five-year-old son of Carnegie settled midfield on the rails with Larry Cassidy allowing him to stride-up three wide from the 500m. Had a bit to do turning for home but stretched out in great style and surged to the lead. Out of a Zabeel mare it’s a matter of how far

Canterbury 24/9/08

The Astronomer

Everyone with a TV or set of binoculars has found this one so be wary of it’s price when next at the races, but, you had to be mightily impressed by the debut win. The Guy Walter/Glen Boss combination was in trouble early when The Astronomer was checked/tightened and steadied off heels on settling. Losing his position the task became even more difficult at the 600m mark when again forced to steady and hook to the outside. Widest into the straight and still five lengths off the leaders it was an amazing finishing burst which saw The Astronomer round them up and stick his head out right on the post. Huge win, some query on what he beat and Canterbury can be a flattering course.

Randwick 27/9/08

Emperor Bonaparte

Arguably should have beaten Rhyno Chaser in the Dulcify (1800m). Slow into stride Jeff Lloyd allowed him to lob along in last position. Coming to the turn the speed quickened with Emperor Bonaparte travelling strongly but waiting for the final shot at them. Lloyd’s decision to save ground into the straight was a contentious one and between the 400-275m he had to weave a path through some tiring runners. Once balanced-up at the 250m he really charged to the line but the bird had flown. Bred to stay and races like a stayer. Hairy – Had no luck in the Nivison (1200m) and should have finished much, much closer than her official 4.8 lens 10th. Drew well in the capacity field and settled nicely midfield one off the fence. Travelling strongly into the straight Hairy was beginning to wind-up when raced very tight inside the final 150m and could not be fully tested. Went to the post hard held and with clear running would have been fighting out the finish. Perhaps next time.

Melbourne by Brad WatersMoonee Valley 24/09/08

Vigor The Danny O'Brien stable has been unlucky in town recently and the run of Vigor was no exception at Moonee Valley. After having a nice trail in transit, the son of O’Reilly found trouble on the home turn when trying to angle out to make ground. Took a few strides to get balanced in the straight and was charging to the line when Raeburn got a miracle split to beat him by a whisker. Vigor is looking for more ground but his two runs from a spell indicate that a nice race will be his in the spring.

Prima Nova

This girl is one of the most durable mares going around. Anthony Cummings sent her around ten times in a very long autumn and winter preparation mid-year, performing with distinction throughout. At the Valley last Wednesday, Damien Oliver had her out the back on a day when it was very difficult to make ground out wide because of the configuration of the track. Once she got balanced in the straight, Prima Nova produced the best finish of the day to get beaten by a half-length after being six lengths off the lead at the 150 metres. All of Prima Nova’s best form has been in restricted class mares races, watch for her when placed properly.

Flemington - 28/09/08

Exceedingly Good

On first appearances, the run of Exceedingly Good was hardly worthy of a mention in a Racenet newsletter but a look at the weights shows exactly how good his effort was to be beaten a length and a quarter in open class. Exceedingly Good was weighted on the minimum with 53kg but was still disadvantaged at the weights against his older rivals. Most of his rivals carried less than weight-for-age but Exceedingly Good carried 2kg more than weight for age for a three-year-old colt. Colonel Parker and Chinchilla Rose carried weight-for-age in the race and were beaten by Exceedingly Good. Not many races are won by horses carrying more than weight-for-age. Follow him in a more suitable event

This bloke has been a real good horse to us and Saturday was no exception Scottie rode his usual great ride. He knows this horse back to front, and gets the best out of him. No reason why we wont keep following him.

Got back to midfield and wide, made steady ground to the turn then faded.

(Stewards Report) Near the 1000m, WOODY ‘N' BUZZ had to be steadied off the heels of ONE EYED (J. Byrne), which shifted in. WOODY ‘N' BUZZ over raced on the heels of ONE EYED for a short distance thereafter. ONE EYED and WOODY ‘N' BUZZ raced wide throughout. WOODY ‘N' BUZZ lost its near hind plate in running. A post-race veterinary examination of WOODY ‘N' BUZZ failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Doomben Race 4-3 MASTER HUGH unplaced

Given the run of the race 3rd the fence, and got the split on the turn.

However wasn't going good enough to take it, weakened badly. (Stewards report)

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of MASTER HUGH, trainer's representative Mrs Thompson indicated that whilst the horse was having only its second start over a mile, she was of the opinion that MASTER HUGH may find the distance too far. She added the horse may be better suited in races up to 1400m. Apprentice L. Rolls agreed with Mrs Thompson's summation and added the gelding when placed under pressure from the 600m failed to respond and did not finish off the race as expected. Mrs Thompson advised that connections would now consider bringing the gelding back in distance. A post-race veterinary examination of MASTER HUGH failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Got back to last in a fast speed, very patiently ridden and had trouble getting a clear run in the straight

flew late to get up on the line. Hugh win defiantly one to follow.

Rosehill Race 9-4 HAIRY Unplaced

Not the best to jump as usual, however made ground quickly to possie up just behind the speed.

Stayed the fence looking for inside runs , and when they came wasn't willing to take them.

Flemington Race 2-1 MINNESOTA SHARK Unplaced

Got across good from awkward alley, however fired up when he had no cover, and used

too much energy. Was with the leaders on the turn but was the first horse under pressure.

(Stewards Report)When questioned regarding the riding tactics adopted on Minnesota Shark today, D Oliver explained that there were no specific pre race plans as to how the colt should be ridden but he did not expect to take up such a forward position as he had anticipated that there would be more speed from runners drawn closer to the fence. He added that in his opinion Minnesota Shark, particularly now that it was stepping up in distance, has become accustomed to the addition of blinkers and it was his recommendation to Trainer T Hughes that they be removed and that Minnesota Shark would be best ridden mid field with some cover.

Flemington Race 9-4 LORDS RANSOM Unplaced

was three wide from the 600m and never had clear running at the top of the straight.

When questioned regarding the poor performance of Lords Ransom, rider S Arnold could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance and stated that Lords Ransom had raced in a one paced manner today. Eagle Farm Race 3-3 REGAL CASTANEA 1st $3.40-$1.60

unuseually got back to second last in afast pace, came to the outside in the

straight to make his run. He got to the line ok but not good enough. (Stewards Report)

When questioned as to the reason for SOMMERSEA DRIVE being further back in the field than anticipated, B. Pengelly stated that the horse jumped away awkwardly and despite his efforts, the gelding could not muster the necessary pace to obtain a position near the leaders. B. Pengelly added that he felt that SOMMERSEA DRIVE was not entirely suited by the pattern of today's race. Trainer T. Miller reported that, in his opinion, the horse had come to the end of its preparation and would now be spelled.

Doomben Race 7-3 HAPPY FINISH (Roughie)unplaced

Lead and went hard early scott gave him a breather mid-race and he kicked strong on the turn.

However weakened late early effort must have took it's toll.
