Flemington Race 2-1 MINNESOTA SHARK Unplaced

Got across good from awkward alley, however fired up when he had no cover, and used

too much energy. Was with the leaders on the turn but was the first horse under pressure.

(Stewards Report)When questioned regarding the riding tactics adopted on Minnesota Shark today, D Oliver explained that there were no specific pre race plans as to how the colt should be ridden but he did not expect to take up such a forward position as he had anticipated that there would be more speed from runners drawn closer to the fence. He added that in his opinion Minnesota Shark, particularly now that it was stepping up in distance, has become accustomed to the addition of blinkers and it was his recommendation to Trainer T Hughes that they be removed and that Minnesota Shark would be best ridden mid field with some cover.

When questioned regarding the poor performance of Lords Ransom, rider S Arnold could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance and stated that Lords Ransom had raced in a one paced manner today.
