Warwick Farm 21/1/09
Cloudy Morning – Only had the two starts now but has caught the eye on each occasion and should go into the blackbook. Trained by Ron Leemon this three-year-old filly is likely to represent some value when next presented and really wound-up late when fifth in the 1300m maiden. Drifted a long way back from the wide gate before easing deep into the straight. Looks a type that will improve with race experience and more ground. Stick with her.
Randwick 24/1/09
Falling In Love – Beaten as a short-priced favourite when third behind Rolling Stock but don’t sack this promising four-year-old mare on that performance. She was beaten by a small field/slow tempo/slow jump. Missed the kick clearly and settled back on the rails. When they walked in front the race developed into a sprint home and she did knuckle down grabbing third place and hitting the line gamely. Clocked the fastest final 600m of the meeting (see below) so am willing to forgive this effort. Is yet to miss a place from five starts (5:1-2-2).
Randwick 26/1/09
All Legal – Turned in a terrific debut effort when runner-up in the Inglis Classic (1200m). Whilst often a dodgy form reference this run deserves special mention. Drifted well back from a wide barrier in a truly run affair before weaving clear down the running. Hit the line strongly just missing behind the favourite and race-experienced Fear No Other. Can only improve with that race experience and tackling 1200m around Randwick on debut suggests he will be better suited over a bit more ground.
Dashie Diva – Make sure this four-year-old mare goes into the blackbook. Country-trained Dash For Cash mare drew the horror outside alley and in misty conditions Corey Brown took the safe option and drifted well back in the field. Remaining wide but with cover Dashie Diva was never really a winning chance from the turn but wound-up strongly through the field and really attacked the line once spotted daylight inside the final 200m. Record currently (4:2-1-1) and looks set to make the grade in town.

MOONEE VALLEY 23/1/09
GOLDEN GLOBE – This Spinning World filly debuted in a $60,000 maiden at Moonee Valley and was probably out of contention once she drew the outside gate over the Moonee Valley 1200 metre start. Dwayne Dunn had to snag this filly to the rear to get anywhere near the fence and she found a little trouble getting clear at a vital stage. Once she found daylight Golden Globe hit the line very well, suggesting a decent future.
ARONDIGHT – Small fields can often be the undoing of backmarkers but not this guy. This son of Anabaa was only having his third career start and found himself at the rear of an eight horse field (probably a big field for Sydney racing). Glen Boss was patient and only began to move forward on Arondight at the 500 metres with the Peter Moody-trained galloper rounding his rivals up to score easily. He will only improve and has a good staying future ahead of him.
EL SEGUNDO – The 2007 Cox Plate winner’s problems have been well documented. He was never going to win the Carlyon Stakes but there was a little glimpse shown at the 150 metres that the old turn of foot was still there. El Segundo made up three lengths very quickly under no pressure to show that there might still be life in him yet.
BETFAIR PARK SANDOWN – 24/1/09
PRINSOM – This guy found himself in a tough little race to debut in last Saturday but acquitted himself very well. He raced at the back of midfield in a race dominated by those near the speed and did plenty to suggest a good future by getting to the line very nicely to finish on the heels of the placegetters under no pressure from the rider. The son of Red Ransom will enjoy a step up in trip and can open his account soon.
CAULFIELD – 26/1/09
MAKA ENA – This Lee Freedman-trained filly found herself up against the brilliant Rostova last Monday and acquitted herself very well. She settled on the back of midfield and was never out of trouble and ended up being squeezed out to last approaching the home turn. Kerrin McEvoy got her to stride out very well over the concluding stages to just miss a place. Another win is around the corner for this filly
TYPHOON TRACY – This girl was an easy one to enter in a video review because she may just end up a special filly. She didn’t beat any stars to open her stakes racing account but the dismissal of them was the impressive thing about her win. She was pressured up front and simply left her rivals standing when Glen Boss let her go at the 250 metres. She still had plenty up her sleeve and the scary thought is that she will only get better with racing.
FRAVASHI – This Darley colt was injured at his previous run in the GI Tommy Smith Stakes at Eagle Farm in the winter and showed with his run in the Zeditave Stakes that he has fully recovered from his injury. Fravashi had a good run in transit but Dwayne Dunn forced Kerrin McEvoy to look for runs on the inside by holding Time Thief to his outside. Fravashi looked reluctant to take the run on the inside of the leader but once switched across heels, he got home like the top class colt he is. Follow him throughout his campaign.

Hall fit to ride at Caulfield
Monday, 26 January 2009
Apprentice rider Nick Hall has recovered sufficiently from his fall at Betfair Park on Saturday and will be fit to fulfil his book of rides at Caulfield on Monday.
Hall was taken to the Epworth Hospital in Melbourne for X-rays on his ankle after being thrown from Tan Tat Jet in the Paint Handicap.
Tan Tat Jet dipped severely at the start of the event and Hall had little chance of staying in the saddle.
Hall has seven rides on the Caulfield card with his best chance to be the Danny O’Brien-trained Reputable in the final event, the Rokk Ebony Cup over 2000 metres.
