Newcastle Race 7-4 ASHIKAGA (Best Bet) Unplaced
Ridden hard to go forward and never given a chance to find his feet, he was on the wrong leg around the turn and beaten along way from home. Disappointing ride from a top Jockey. (Stewards Report) When questioned regarding the performance of Ashikaga, B Shinn stated that whilst he was obliged to make some use of the gelding in the early stages to cross Bengal to take up a position outside the leader, Ashikaga travelled well after obtaining that position. He added that although Ashikaga was hampered near the 300m, the gelding was under pressure at that point and was most disappointing in its failure to run on in the straight. A post race veterinary examination of Ashikaga did not reveal any abnormalities. Stable representative Mr R Nunn stated that Ashikaga had worked well leading into today's run and was unable to offer any explanation in regard to Ashikaga's performance. An inquiry into the performance of the gelding was adjourned pending advice from the stable in relation to the condition of Ashikaga subsequent to today's event and any future plans for the gelding.
Sandown Race 7-2 RAFFAELLO (Roughie)1st $4.60-$2.00
Slow away and given a few hits with the whip to get him into gear. Sat last in a fast tempo and taken to the outside in the straight, given two more hits with the whip and it was all over. Hit the line very strong, good ride Michael.

Randwick Race 7-2 SCHIBELLO 2nd $1.80
Got back to midfield one off the fence in a moderate tempo, peeled around their heels on the turn. Got out in plenty of time , however never hit with the whip and went down a head, nice run.

Eagle Farm Race 4-8 TISANI BOY 3rd $1.30
Rosehill Race 2-5 PURDEY 3rd $1.60
Given the run of the race 3rd the fence in a moderate speed, eased around their heels at the 300m and took a while to get balanced. The winner went past that fast it gave the rest of the field a cold.
Rosehill Race 8-4 HEART OF DREAMS 1st $3.00-$1.40
Got back to midfield one off the fence in a fast past, came to the outside in the straight. Took a while to wind up and hit the line strong. Gutsy effort and looks on track to win more.
Caulfield Race 7-7 ROSLOTTA 3rd $1.60
Got into a good position 4th one off the fence, in a moderate tempo. On the turn the eventual winner Hissing Sid moved around 3 wide putting him in a pocket and dictating to him. When he got clear at the 200m, he wound up late to finish strong. (Stewards Report) Roslotta was held up rounding the home turn and failed to gain clear running in the straight until approaching the 200m
